This product category has benefited from Obegi Consumer Products group 50 year association with Henkel KGaA, the german multinational, one of the world’s top three companies in the detergent and household cleaner field. Under its licence, the fifty / fifty joint venture, Henkel Lebanon s.a.l has been manufacturing international brands such as Persil since the mid seventies in Lebanon and the late nineties in Syria through its affiliate: Henkel Syria s.a.s. Raw materials for these products are purchased to strict Henkel KGaA specifications and each stage of production is quality controlled by our laboratories. With the help of Henkel research, international brands, and location-specific products have been developed to suit Lebanon's particular conditions. These special formulations, plus rigid quality control and highly professional marketing, sales and distribution, have resulted in 97 percent market penetration in Lebanon where our brands shares have been achieved despite competition from such giants as Procter and Gamble and Unilever. Persil heavy duty detergent, Der General Multipurpose Liquid Cleaner, are both market leaders in their respective categories. Pril dishwashing liquid, with a today's share of 25%, is fastly closing the gap with market leader Fairy. Together with Henkel KGaA, we are looking to repeat Lebanon's success story and achieve the same results by 2008 in Syria, where the market for detergents and household cleaners enjoys unusually good prospects, and where consumers are ready to try a new generation of technologies and products unavailable to them till only recently.
